Hot, Dry Skin or Heavy Sweating

Your body may stop sweating, or you might still be drenched if it’s exertional heatstroke.

Your body is working overtime to cool down.

Nausea or Vomiting

Heatstroke can make you feel sick to your stomach.

Throbbing Headache

A warning that your body is overheating.

Fainting or Seizures

In severe cases, heatstroke can knock you out or cause convulsions.

What to Do Immediately

🚨 This is a medical emergency—don’t wait!

  • Call 911 or seek emergency help ASAP.
  • Move to a cooler place (shade, air-conditioned room, anywhere out of the heat).
  • Remove unnecessary clothing to help the body cool down.
  • Apply cold water or ice packs to the neck, armpits, and groin.
  • Drink fluids if alert, but avoid caffeine or alcohol.

Heatstroke can lead to organ failure or worse if untreated. Knowing the signs and acting fast could save a life. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe!
